Mr. Chet Elliot, a 93- year old WWll veteran, visited our homeschool co-op to talk about his experiences.
World War ll started in Poland in September of 1939. Half of the armies fought for power and the other fought for freedom.
When he was 19, he decided to join the army. He worked on half tracks. Mr. Elliot went to Germany, France, England, Scotland, and Ireland. He arrived in Europe one week after the D-day invasions.
Some very sad things happened, though. Three of his friends were killed right in front of him in the war. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and his face blew up!! It took three years of surgery to get it back to normal. The Battle of the Bulge was the last major German offensive. Mr. Elliot has been married for 70 years and was born in Ohio.
He carried an M-1 Rifle and a tiny bomb. Mr. Elliot also carried around a little pack of food, that had dark, dark chocolate at the top, and something like popcorn at the bottom. His favorite job was driving a truck and was in the 6th armor division.
It was very interesting. Thank you, Mr. Chet Elliot.
We drove to Arizona for our annual baseball spring training vacation. It was very fun. We stayed there for four days and 3 nights. The first day we mostly just drove. First, we went to Waffle House to eat. Their waffles are so good!!
Next, we went to the University of Phoenix Stadium. There wasn’t a game going on. We just walked around the grounds. Sadly, we got trapped in, but we found a way out.
After, we went to the Renaissance Marriott to rest.
A little later, we drove to ASU where my dad went to college. We walked around a little and found bean pods. Sarah, my little sister, was obsessed with them. Next, we sat in a golf cart and drove back to the hotel.
Day 1 was awesome, and I couldn’t wait for the next.
It comes with 8 darts, and the handle is very comfortable. This gun has slam-fire. Also, it can shoot 1 or 2 darts. It has 1 tactical rail. Rough Cut costs $22.34 on Amazon. Hasbro’s price is 20 bucks, though.
It has a shotgun grip, 2 sling points, and an iron sight. This is a good starter gun because it has a decent amount of ammo and is super easy to use.
Overall, I think this is a great gun, and I definitely recommend it.
What Nerf guns do you have? Tell me in the comments below.
Here are some other posts I wrote related to this one:
Have you ever visited a chocolate factory? For one of our field trips, we went to ChocXO in Irvine. They have some of the finest beans in the world from Latin America.
First, we learned about the fruit and got to eat some of it. It tasted weird but sweet. If other fruits trees, like bananas or mangoes, grew by it, the chocolate would get that taste.
Next, we learned about fermenting. They let the fruit sit for a certain amount of time.
Right after fermenting, they dry the fruit.
Next, they roast and grind the chocolate.
We got to taste it ground, but it did not taste the best. After grinding was refine. They put the sugar in there. Next was conch. They mixed up the butter and chocolate. Finally, we got to taste 5 different types of chocolate. The field trip was super fun…….. and yummy.
